Vega Määttä Siltberg’s artistic practice includes woven artworks for private and public spaces, as well as participatory art projects.
Working with reclaimed textiles, she explores the materials’ physical and symbolic potential, and how their value can be reconsidered through artistic transformation.
Her practice challenges prevailing norms of consumption.
In her participatory projects Vega draws on textiles’ ability to elicit a feeling of recognition and security to make inclusive spaces for collective creating. By introducing tactile, soft structures into unexpected environments, she aims to make traditional craft practises more accessible to a wider audience through textile art.
