Reed tapestry

During winter’s coldest day, I go to a lake outside Stockholm to harvest reeds. I remember my grandfather’s advice that it’s best to wait until the ice is thick so you can walk out and cut the reeds with a scythe. You need to hurry to harvest since you don’t know how long the ice will last and once spring comes, the reeds start to decay and are replaced by the next generation. There’s an abundance of reeds around every lake and pond and I’m excited to be able to harvest my material from where it grows.
